The misconception that there is no sound in space originates because most space is a ~vacuum, providing no way for sound waves to travel. A galaxy cluster has so much gas that we've picked up actual sound. Here it's amplified, and mixed with other data, to hear a black hole! pic.twitter.com/RobcZs7F9e

More than 200 million light-years away from us, NASA caught the soundwaves of a BLACK HOLE.
“The black hole is found in the center of what’s known as the Perseus galaxy cluster, which is a majestic 11 million-light-year-wide bundle of galaxies shrouded by hot gas,” the publication states.
Since waves vibrate through something to produce sound, most people believe there is no sound in space since there is nothing for them to vibrate off of, according to CNET.
However, because the black hole at Perseus is so close to all the gas, it can achieve its unique sound. This is what the scientists have been observing - the ripples of hot gas around the black hole.As humans, we are unable to hear the ripples in the incoming sound waves, but NASA's equipment can. That's why the scientists were able to scale the black hole sound so that we could hear it as well.
