HBO also pushed for more seasons but D&D refused .
For those asking why D&D refused, apparently, they were contracted by Disney to produce a new Star Wars series around the time of seasons 5/6 of GOT. They wanted to move onto the project and it’s one of the reasons why the last two seasons were incredibly rushed and shorter too.
