Russia claims control of Luhansk

Russia claims control of Luhansk, one of two provinces in eastern Ukraine, eastern Donbas, after more than 4 months of fierce fighting.

However, it was accompanied by heavy losses, raising doubts about Russia's force's ability to regain momentum quickly.

In Lysychansk, Ukraine's forces are being shelled by Russian forces. At least 19 people were killed by Russian missiles that struck forces' areas near Odesa on Friday. Moscow has focused its report on capturing the eastern Ukrainian Donbas region as a means to gain control over the region after it struggled to capture it in its past reports. This has led to fewer casualties among the residents, according to the Associated Press.
